At Selkirk Planning & Design, we create places for people by integrating the local landscape into ecologically-based urban design that enhances and celebrates a local sense of place in mountain communities.
Our design approach integrates natural, cultural and historical influences, people-focussed urban design, innovation and technology and financial considerations into each design. Being located in BC’s mountain communities is a strength that provides a better understanding of local culture and needs. We use technology and a small-firm approach to deliver innovative design solutions, be accessible and communicate effectively at a great value.
As part of our commitment to strengthening local resources, Selkirk Planning & Design frequently partners with other local professionals to deliver a multi-disciplinary approach to projects.
Selkirk Planning & Design (SPD) was established in May 2010 in Revelstoke, BC by Fraser Blyth. After running Endemic Mountain Design out of Revelstoke for two years, Fraser established SPD with a focus on planning and urban design. Between 2010 and 2017 the firm worked on a variety of projects ranging from site specific projects, to municipal land use and zoning plans, to large-scale development projects. In mid-2017, Selkirk Planning & Design crafted a landscape-based urban design placemaking approach which now guides all projects.
