Williamson's Lake Park & Campground Design Concept

2015-2016: Revelstoke, BC

Project Description

SPD, LARCH, & Take to Heart were hired to develop a site plan and visualizations for Williamson’s Lake Park and Campground; A City-owned park and campground that is a popular local swimming destination in Revelstoke. The purpose of the plan was to:

  • Improve and enhance Williamson’s Lake;
  • Make it feel like a community park rather than a private campground; and
  • Create a great public space and increase resident and tourist visits.

The project design focussed on three main areas:

  • Plan for the long-term replacement of the aging existing day use and campground buildings;
  • Improving the day use area of the park; and
  • Improving the campground to bring it up the standards of a municipal park in a BC Resort community.

The project was completed in early 2016. A summary report was presented to Council in the spring of 2016. The summary report includes maps and graphics and descriptions of the purpose, process, open house results, and proposed recommendations with estimated construction costs.
