Client:Â the City of Revelstoke & the Revelstoke Community Housing Society, Revelstoke, BC
The intent of this project was to create a series of rendered images for the initial development of the Bridge Creek Affordable Housing Property along Oscar Street for presentation to the Columbia Basin Trust. The initial phase involved research into modular or prefab single-family housing types that would fit on 7 lots along Oscar Street. The design featured 7 different housing types to create a more diverse streetscape. Houses were chosen from a variety of modular/prefab buildings within BC and the Pacific Northwest based on their overall character. Front porches and open facades were important elements and parking was accessed through a back alley. Each house was presented with approximate construction costs.
After proposing higher densities to reduce overall costs, a second phase involved the development of 12 townhouse units to sensitively increase density and save development costs. The townhouse design reflected the Revelstoke building character and also included front porches and open facades. The townhouse design was submitted to the Columbia Basin Trust (CBT) in 2012 and was granted funding for further development in 2013.
